Ecoknits - again

June 29, 2008

Note to self: Must get more photos on the site. I’ve got boxes of scrumptious yarn and gorgeous needles stacked here there and everywhere, but I’ve just not had a child-free, dog-free moment to get everything out. Must do that this week, especially since I started an Ecoknits group on Ravelry. And there’s people joined who I didn’t invite! Woo-hoo!

On a more mundane front, last night I very nearly quit. If I could have found someone to tender my resignation to, I would have done. Except there isn’t anyone, and if I quit, then there wouldn’t be anyone to do my job. And I can’t quit if I’m the boss, can I? Although sometimes I wish I wasn’t so in charge. Can’t someone else take responsibility for a while? Can I have the weekend off please? Go away somewhere for the night? Or even just crawl into bed for 24 hours and let the world pass me by?

Yeah, I know, it’s been one of those weeks. Only three weeks left until the end of term though. Yippee!! I have to organise Myf a birthday party though first. And sort out the final completion certificate for the extension. And then I have to start decluttering big time if we’re going to get this house up for sale before the bottom drops out of the housing market completely. I won’t even mention the bloody Land Rovers on the drive, dropping oil everywhere and taking up any spare time that becomes available.

On a more cheerful note, I’ve just cast on a lovely lacy patterned top for me, in a creamy coloured organic cotton. It’s so soft! I just hope the gauge is right, as I didn’t do a swatch, but hey, it’s all knitting, right? :)

16 year old helps save the planet

June 25, 2008

16 year old boy figures out how to get rid of plastic bags in three months

It makes amazing reading, but if you’ll forgive my scepticism, cynicism and pessimism, which multi-national corporation is going to buy up the rights to this bacteria, copyright and patent it and charge a fortune for its monopoly on the disposal of the scourge of our time?

That Friday feeling…

June 20, 2008

I was going to ask the girls if they fancied a treat tonight - a takeaway curry once Daddy gets home.

However, they’ve been so completely horrid from the second I collected them from school, I scratched that idea and decided to feed them frozen pizza and send them to bed just as soon as half-decently possible.

If they’re lucky, I may even decide to cook the pizza first.

Introspective.

June 14, 2008

I have come to the conclusion that my computer must be criminalised. It is responsible for aiding and abetting me in wasting a huge amount of my time.

I spend hours just surfing and browsing and writing and browsing a bit more. Hours, days, weeks pass…

How can I squander so finite a resource? It should be illegal.

Most folks would say there are only 24 hours in any one day, which is true. But what is more important, and much more vital to remember - there is only this moment we are in and once it’s gone, it’s gone.

You can’t have this moment back. When you waste it, it’s history, memory, a dream. The next moment isn’t here yet. There is just this one, and what are you doing with it? Wasting it.

I’m having an introspective day, folks. Normal service will resume shortly.

Mystery Theme Swap 3

June 12, 2008

I got my package for this swap a couple of days ago, but have been fairly headless and just clean forgot to post it.

There was supposed to be a theme, but I have no idea what it was. I did get some nice sock yarn though :) Does anyone want some nice shiny blue metal DPNs, 2.5mm? I just can’t knit with metal needles, but I don’t think there was a spot on the questionnaire for that bit of info.

Thanks Karin :)

The Boy and his Dog

June 4, 2008

I’m sat here, looking for nice bamboo yarn for EcoKnits, and I suddenly realise that it’s alla bit quiet, apart from the odd bit of crunching.

Quiet is suspicious, considering RJ and Olly are both running loose. So I go looking for them.

And find this:

boy and dog

Boy in dog cage, feeding Dog her biscuits through the bars.

Boy happy to be playing in cage and with stuff in bowls, Dog happy to be eating in company.

Colour help please

June 3, 2008

I’m overwhelmed with choice at the moment - there are two gorgeous yarns I want to stock in EcoKnits, but I can’t afford to buy a pack of each colour (42 colours in one and 72 in the other!)

So, dear readers, which dozen would you buy of each?

Bambino (bamboo/cotton mix)

Bamboo fibre

You see why I’m stuck for choice!!!

Found something fun :)
