Potatoes!
Finally, I’ve planted my early spuds. In spite of the fact that the maincrop went in nearly three weeks ago up at the lottie, I’d not done anything about getting the earlies in.
But now, in neat rows of six from the patio we have Witchhill, Winton and organic Premiere (all first earlies) and a line of Wilja (second early) after that.
And if I could find the rake, I’d put the onions in, but I can’t so it’ll just have to wait until tomorrow.

yay! Well done you!
No idea what sort my spuds are but they’re in.

Sarah, if you have the ones I gave to Kris you have Kestrel and Pentland Javelin
I have Kestrel, Pentland Javelin, Wilja, Desiree and Pentland Ivory, and they’re all in now too. And all the old guys at the lottie are telling me it’s too cold to plant anything else right now so we have to wait with our dibbers poised. xxx

I know the varieties but not that early, maincrop and stuff. I’m not a detailed planner I’m a *bung it in and see* gardener.
Thanks Andrea!

put our earlies in at school a couple weeks back, but brought the left overs back here and they are still sitting in the kitchen, as the garden has rather too much broken glass in to go out planting. And we forgot to bring the rake from Sheffield, so we still haven’t done it this weekend either.

Kestrel is a ’second early’ and Pentland is an early maincrop - if that means anything
I’m a bit of a ‘bung it inner’ myself.

I need to go and get some…or else it’ll be too late. Can it be too late to plant potatoes? OK I know I’m showing how ignorant I am in these matters!

We have Pentland Jav, Kestrel and Desiree - as seen here: http://bonkers.blogsome.com/2008/04/09/spuds/
Andrea - part of the comfrey root in the very bottom pic there is being held at Kris’s for you - don’t let her forget. Mine is now almost double that size and seems to love its new home and when I delivered pots the other day they seemed to be growing away nicely.
